I am currently a full-time Lecturer at the Technical University of Berlin and a visiting postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials. Previously, I held a postdoctoral position at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin, Germany where I worked within the interdisciplinary research group "Experience in the Premodern Sciences of Body and Soul." I was also the 2020 Lorenz-Bausch Fellow at the Leopoldina National Academy of Science. I completed my doctorate in philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.

My expertise lies in the history of science and history of philosophy. Here my research has spanned numerous themes and time periods from ethics and politics of the medieval period to medieval theological notions of mysticism to encountering the Latin Americas through natural history, medicine, and botany to epistemological questions on experience and observation. Broadly speaking, my two main areas of interest are 1) ethics and the problem of nature, character, quality, and quantity of knowledge necessary for attribution of moral responsibility and 2) the history of botany and history of medicine through philosophical analysis.

I currently serve on the advisory board of the Planck Academy. I am also a Board Member of ICoRSA.

I have a special interest in science policy and have been closely involved with advocating for postdocs within discussions of the WissZeitVG amendments in Germany. I lead the WissZeitVG Working Group for PostdocNet. Our statement on the WissZeitVG can be found here.

I served from 2023-2024 as the elected Spokesperson of the Max Planck Society PostdocNet where I was committed to increasing the visibility of PostdocNet and advocating for the needs of postdocs, especially mentorship.
